Church Update // March 26, 2020
Dear Hope Family,
As the days go on and new measures continue to come out in an effort to control the spread of Covid-19, we want to send you a quick update regarding the provincial government’s closure of non-essential work places.
The government announced:
“Due to the evolving COVID-19 situation, the Ontario government will be ordering at-risk workplaces to close-down, while encouraging businesses to explore opportunities to continue operations through work-from-home and innovative business models. At the same time, the government reminds businesses to put in place protocols for physical distancing and regular hand-washing in order to protect the health and safety of employees and the general public.”
Prior to this announcement, our church staff had moved to a “remote first” solution—meaning the default working location for everyone on our team is at home. Our office is closed. For functions requiring on-site presence, such as the production of online services and Harvest Market food drive and sorting, limited staff are at the church performing what’s necessary in compliance with social distancing standards.
The province has deemed counselling services and food pantries an essential service and we’re thankful that we have the opportunity to continue to serve the needs of our community in these ways. As of now our counselling ministry has moved to an online model.
Throughout all of this we continue to seek to live out our mission:
“To glorify God, through the fulfillment of the great commission in the spirit of the great commandment”
We seek to submit to the authorities, love our neighbours, find creative forms of discipleship, and gather online as the church of Jesus Christ.
Stay tuned for discipleship materials coming out for kids, youth, and adults.
You are loved!
