In 1 Samuel we read about Goliath who was bullying the Israelites. King Saul and David’s brothers thought David was crazy for thinking that he could defeat Goliath. Who did David get his courage from? Why is courage from God better than courage from something else?
1 Corinthians 16:13 says. “Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong”. How can Jesus help you to be watchful? Firm in the faith? Strong?
Someone like David who is firm in the faith does not give advice in their own wisdom. When you or someone else has a problem, how can you best help? (2 Peter 1:3)
Sometimes standing up for what is right is hard. When Jesus stood up for what was right, we killed Him by nailing Him to the cross. Jesus got His strength from God and did what was right, even though it was painful. He died for you. Because Jesus was courageous, you can have God’s strength and courage today by;
A_________ that you have done wrong and ask God to forgive you for disobeying Him.
B_______ that God sent Jesus to take the punishment for your sin. Trust that you are forgiven because Jesus made you right with God
C________ to spend your whole life depending on God’s power to help you say no to sin. Rely on God to help you tell others that God is your leader and the most important person in your life.
