Faith in Action

Step 1: Sing the Songs

Step 2: Memorize the Word Together

Step 3: Watch the Teaching Together

Step 4: Discuss the Teaching Together

Read and Explain God’s Word

  1. Read Hebrews 11:1-1217-31, then discuss these questions;
    1. What is the title of this passage in the Bible?
    2. Who are the main characters in this passage?
    3. What is faith? (vv. 1-3)
    4. How many times can you find “By faith” in this passage?
    5. What does it mean to do something “By faith”? (Hint: v.13, 39-40)
    6. Why did all of these people act in faith and trust God? (v.6)

Show God’s Word

  1. Faith means having complete trust in someone or something. What is something or someone you put your faith in every day? (Hint: When you sit in a chair do you have complete trust it will hold you and not break? What else do you trust in?)
  1. Faith without action is dead. We have to actually live out our faith and make the choices God says are good to make. How did the following people put their faith in action?
    1. Noah (Hebrews 11:7)
    2. Abraham (Hebrews 11:17-19)
    3. The Isrealites (Hebrews 11:29)
  1. What has God promised to give those who put their faith in His Son Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour (See: 1 John 1:5)? Does God always keep His promises? (Titus 1:2)

Apply God’s Word

  1. Faith in God comes with action. What are some ways you can show your faith in God? (Hint: How can you spend time with God? How can you serve others and show them God’s love?)
  1. Take some time now to pray and ask God to help you take action with your faith and live by your faith in Him. Praise God for Jesus and His promise to reward those who seek Him. Take some time to confess and repent (turn from) hiding your faith or not trusting God with your life and choices. Then ask God to show you how you live by faith and take action (look at your answer for questions 4!).
  1. One of the greatest ways we can take action and live by faith is by reading the Bible. The more we know God’s Word, the better we can live out God’s Word! Use the Grow Up In Christ planner and schedule the time you need to spend time with Jesus. Remember- as you get close to Him, He will get close to you and give you the strength you need to live faithfully! Share your plan with your family, friends, and the Hope Kids team (hkids@hopeottawa.ca)
  1. Take time this week to memorize James 2:26 to remind you that when you have faith in Jesus, we do the things He asks us to do  For as the body apart from the spirit is dead, so also faith apart from works is dead.
  1. Have you ever made the decision to put your faith in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour? To become a believer in Jesus, we have to believe that Jesus is the Son of God and the only Saviour. God sent His only Son, Jesus, to come to earth and die for our sins, so we can be saved and have a personal relationship with Him. To accept this gift from God, we must believe that Jesus died for us so that we can be God’s child too. We first must repent of our sin (turn away from it) and believe in Jesus as our Lord and Saviour. When we do this, we put our faith in Him as our Lord and Saviour. If you want to begin a personal relationship with Him, and put your faith in Him alone, all you need to do is;

A_________ (Admit) that you have done wrong and ask God to forgive you for disobeying Him.

B_______ (Believe) that God sent Jesus to take the punishment for your sin. Trust that you are forgiven because Jesus made you right with God

C________ (Choose) to spend your whole life depending on God’s power to help you say no to sin. Rely on God to help you tell others that God is your leader and the most important person in your life.

Step 5: Pray the Truth Together
