“Blessed is the man who makes the LORD his trust…”-Psalm 40:4a

Hello Hope Ottawa Family,

Happy three-year anniversary! God has done and continues to do more than we can ask or imagine in and through His Church as the gospel continues to advance in this city and around the world for His glory.  We have much to celebrate and be thankful for. The truth of the verse above has been such an anchor to my heart in this season. There are so many things around us that we could be tempted to put our trust in, yet there is only One that is not only worthy of our trust, but also guarantees that His blessing will follow as we humble ourselves before Him and put our trust in Him alone. O, may we increasingly be a Church whose trust is in the Lord! Here is our latest update for what is happening in the Church and how you can stay connected…

Stay Connected: Sunday April 5, 2020

“Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the LORD your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.”-Deuteronomy 31:6

Hello Hope Ottawa Family,

As I reflect on the truth of the passage above, I am filled with great faith that even though it seems that our world today is increasingly filled with dread and fear of what is happening around us, the LORD is standing with us. I pray you are filled with great strength and courage in Him today as you trust in Him that He sees you where you are and knows what you are facing, and will never leave you or forsake you in it. Call out to Him, stand firm in Him and rest in His presence. Here is our latest update for what is happening in the Church and how you can stay connected…

“Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.”-Hebrews 10: 23-25

Hello Hope Ottawa Family,

The above verses have been so precious to me this past week, as we as Elders seek the Lord as to how to love you, direct you, protect you, feed you and lead you in this season that we find ourselves in.  Even after only missing one Sunday, I am truly longing to gather together with you all again in person, to lift up the name of our most excellent Saviour and King Jesus Christ! O, what a day that will be!  In the meantime, we are called to not forsake meeting together, even now when it would be very easy to become disconnected, to forsake serving and exhorting one another in the gospel and to cease coming under God’s Word together as a Church family. Yet, as we read in this text, the command of our Saviour is to not forsake meeting together, but earnestly press in to meet together ALL THE MORE as we anticipate the Day that Christ will return! I pray we would continue to take every opportunity that the Lord has given us to do so, and go hard and expectantly in coming together to call on His Name! In faithfulness to this, I want to share the latest update of how the Lord has been leading us and what that means for how we will continue to meet together in the days ahead. Here are some exciting developments…

“…I am God, and there is none like me, declaring the end from the beginning and from ancient times things not yet done, saying, ‘My counsel shall stand, and I will accomplish all my purpose.’”-Isaiah 46: 9b-10

Hope Bible Church Family,

What an incredible truth we cling to in knowing that God knows the end from the beginning. He works everything out in His sovereignty and by His perfect wisdom, to accomplish His perfect purpose!  As you look around at our world today, I pray that you are strengthened in faith through this truth and remember that because of it, we have nothing to fear (Isaiah 41:10), we will have wisdom to proceed (James 1:5), and will be given the strength and faith to follow the Lord as He leads us in our mission to see the gospel proclaimed and disciples made in such a time as this (Matt. 28:18-20). Be encouraged loved one, God will accomplish His purpose for His glory and our good! In light of this truth, I wanted to give you an update as to how our Church is responding to Covid-19 pandemic….

This Sunday March 15, 2020

As Elders we have spent much time in prayer and counsel in seeking the Lord & taking the recommendations of our government and other public health officials. We have made the hard but prudent decision to cancel our Sunday service. However, we will be gathering online to Livestream one of the Worship Services from Hope Bible Church Oakville. The Livesetream details are below. Please be sure to pick a service and join with us in worship.

Ministry Adjustments

Beginning this week, there are a few adjustments we will be making in our regular ministries. They are as follows…

  • Small Groups: If you are in a Small Group, your leaders will be contacting you shortly in regards to the changes there.
  • Serving Teams: Your ministry leaders will contact you each week to confirm if we are meeting at the school or not.

We would love to care for you any way we are able to.
  • Giving: With being unable to gather together indefinitely, we encourage you to continue giving your tithes and offerings through our online giving platform. You can access that here. Thank you for your faithful generosity.

Ongoing Communication

As the Lord leads, we will be updating you each week in regards to what is happening, any ministry adjustments that will be made, and how we as a Church community can stay connected.  Please ensure to check back on our website, social media pages and your email for updates as they are sent out. In general, we will try to have updates posted by Thursday of each week at the latest. Thank you for your ongoing patience and prayer in this.

Final Thoughts:
This is an important time.
It’s a time for courageous faith: May we all believe together that God has a divine and special purpose for the church in these days (Matthew 16:18, Hebrews 11:6).
It’s a time for wisdom: May we all take the necessary precautions in order to love our neighbours well (James 1:5).
It’s a time for mission: The world around us is fearful, but God’s people have nothing to fear. Why? Because we have a living hope. May we powerfully show the hope of the Gospel to people all around us (Matthew 28:18-20).
It’s a time to abide: May we walk so closely with Jesus Christ, His perfect love casts out fear. (John 15:5, 1 John 4:18).
It’s a time for prayer: Let’s pray for courageous faith, wisdom, urgency for the mission, and for a closeness to Christ through His Word & prayer…God will do it! (1 John 5:14)

MARCH 12, 2020

Hope Ottawa Church Family,
Every Sunday, I’m reminded again how much of a great privilege we have to come and lift high the name of Jesus together. Our times of response to the Lord and His Word are filled with joy and expectation. I also love how our kids are being discipled each week.

As we prepare for services this Sunday, I know that many of you are considering the news around the world regarding the COVID-19 virus.

With information from government websites and Ottawa Public Health in mind, we want you to know of some changes you should expect as you come to church, and to also let you know of some of the precautions we regularly take to keep you and your family safe and healthy when you come to worship.

First, let me share with you some of the regular precautions we take at Hope:

  • Our Hope Kids toys and resources are regularly and systematically cleaned and disinfected.
  • Signage in all washrooms promoting handwashing.
  • Regular cleaning of facility by the school custodial staff.

On top of these regular precautions, we will take a few extra steps of care:

  • Connection Cards: We will not be passing around the Connection Cards, but you will still have an opportunity at the Welcome Desk to introduce and register any guests that may visit with you.
  • Giving: There will also be opportunities for you to give your regular tithe or offering by placing that in the offering bags at the back of the gym at the Connections Desk after the service. The Ushers will be holding the offering bags where you can place your offerings in. You may also give online at our website.
  • Hand Shakes: We’re going to forego our normal practice of shaking hands as we greet each other. We want to be friendly so we’ll still greet you with a smile and an encouraging word as you come to worship, and we’ll probably wave or give a good ol’ head nod but we’ll follow the direction of our health officials to take this necessary precaution.
  • In-Service Greeting: We will not be having a moment in the worship service where we greet each other.

We want to provide a clean, healthy, and safe environment where you and your family can come and worship the Lord at Hope Bible Church.

Along with these precautions, here are a few other precautions that you can take to help us. You should avoid attending church activities including Sunday worship or Hope Kids if:

  • You have had flu-like symptoms in the past 7 days or have been in close contact with someone with these types of symptoms: fever, cough, vomiting or shortness of breath.
  • You have traveled from an area in the past 7-14 days with confirmed cases of the COVID-19 virus or if you suspect you may have been exposed to it in some way.

We understand the need to give attention to all of these details in order to be wise stewards of our health and the safety of others in our church who are most at risk as we come to worship together. Please be praying now for Sunday and for all those who are going to worship in churches all around our community and world. Let’s not miss the opportunity to worship together and get in God’s Word for His glory!
